The Tempo Collective: our story so far.

United by a passion for vocal harmony, inclusivity, and seriously good vibes - we’re all about pushing musical boundaries, we began by mashing up club, house, and soulful classics with spine-tingling, gospel-inspired harmonies.

Founded in 2022 by The Voice Alumni, Yolanda Pikitayi and founder of The Song School, Louisa Strachan, the pair bonded through a love of all things music, including a shared passion for vocal harmony and the musical possibilities it can bring.

Tempo’s journey began as a music experiment between friends. Yolanda and Louisa were joined by Billy Hoyle, Olly Gourley, Jess Selley and Ellie McCann. They would get together to jam and work through musical ideas with the simple goal to create something unique. This is where The Tempo Collective sound was created.

The group was bonded by a desire to light up dancefloors, creating a unique experience and platforming talent. They formed the Tempo choir to foster the big sound and meet new singers and musicians.

Over the years Tempo has evolved. The Collective has trained beginners, created pathways to industry for soloists, and created a platform that brings together musicians and singers for unique experiences, that took them to a number of festivals and events, then in 2025, to The Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-On-Sea, to perform in a full scale theatre show. The event featured a number of Tempo musicians, vocalists and singers, plus a full choir; performing house and disco classics.

Throughout 2026, Tempo has once again evolved - with the addition of our new musical director MJ, we’re heading back to the roots of the music experiment and the desire to light up dancefloors.

Right now, we’re in an exciting chapter: refining our distinct sound and repertoire, the brief - built for the dance floor. And we’ve also been writing and developing our own original music. More on that when it’s ready 👀

Our goal is simple: more gigs, more dancefloors, and more unforgettable nights.
